WIZARDS Club Rules
Meetings
Club meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:30PM at the First Baptist Church in Worcester, MA to discuss the latest home-brew and microbrew news, share home-brewing advice and sample each other’s home-brew. New or potential new members are welcome to stop in and join us at any time. We will be there every month except maybe December when we go a local pub or brewery to celebrate the holiday season.
Meetings will be conducted in accordance with this pre-set agenda, however, times may be changed to accommodate special events at the discretion of the club’s officers. Members will be encourage to stick to the agenda items and not to indulge in side conversations.
7:30-8:00 Business Meeting (first item is to review the upcoming events calendar)
8:00-9:00 Special Topic
9:00-10:00 Social Time
Meeting minutes will be collected at the discretion of the club president.
Officers
Club officers include:
President (oversees all club business, presides over monthly meetings, coordinates monthly functions)
Vice-President (assists the president in overseeing all club business and coordinating monthly events, presides over monthly meetings in the president’s absence)
Secretary/Treasurer (maintains funds, collects club dues, provides newsletter and maintains the club’s web site)
Club officers will serve a two year term and be elected biennially at the June meeting in odd numbered years. Nominations will be made at the May meeting.
Communications and Social Media
The club maintains a DISCORD server which is the primary means of communication and a group email list as the secondary method. DISCORD is used for all day to day activity while the email list is intended for announcements only.
Newsletters will be published on the club’s website at least once per year. Special newsletters will be published as warranted.
The club maintains a public facing Facebook Page, however, it is not used on a regular basis.
New Members
New or potential new members are welcome to stop in and join us at any meeting.
Member Code of Conduct
We expect all members and guests consuming alcohol to be of legal drinking age and for members and guests to demonstrate responsible alcohol consumption, including but not limited to preventing driving while impaired.
All communication, language, and imagery should be respectful. We do not tolerate harassment of members or guests in any form.
We are dedicated to fostering a community open to everyone regardless of race, sex, color, religion, national origin, disability, military status, marital/familial status, political beliefs, sexual orientation, gender identity, creed, or ancestry.
Dues
Dues are set at $15/year due January 1 of each year. Dues will be prorated for new members joining during the second half of the year. For new members joining during November and December, dues are waived for these months as long as the next year’s dues are paid in full.
Dues are optional for community members (ie, online-only Discord members)
Membership is not required to attend club meetings, however, only members and their guests will be permitted at club functions.
Once prospective members attend several meetings, dues will be solicited from them.
Club Activities
The president will ensure regular Club Activities are scheduled.
All members will be encouraged to suggest and coordinate the club activities.
The club will conduct a Pub Crawl will be held each spring.
Internal club competitions (AKA mini-competitions) will be held in January (club brewing event), May (specific BJCP style with formal judging) and August (open to any style with Best-of-Show style judging).
The will attend and participate in the New England Home Brew Jamboree in September.
