Home Brew competitions are a part of our DNA. In addition to our members entering (and often placing quite well) in local, regional, and national competitions, we have a quarterly club only mini-comp and have hosted a variety of competitions over the years.
Mini-comps have been held regularly since 2012. The mini-comp focuses on a single theme and/or BJCP style and is open to all club members. We brew a particular beer style, evaluate the brews to pick a winner and then let the winner pick the style for the next mini-comp. Style talks and/or commercial tasting are often conducted in advance of the mini-comp so everyone can be fully prepared. More...
The Wizards hosted the inaugural Central Mass Home Brew Challenge in 2023. The primary goal of the challenge was to bring the four local clubs together: WIZARDS, M4, FOAM and the Strange Brewers and was only open to active members of these four clubs. It was an opportunity to make new friends in the local brewing community, learn about competition judging and even establish some bragging rights. Deemed a rousing success by all, the challenge is sure to be back in 2024. More...

The “Club Red” is the story of the first joint brewing effort of the Wizards Homebrew Club. The story starts in October 1997, at the first meeting in the WIZARDS “new” location – at the Vinotheque Warehouse. While sampling a few homebrews, our host Brian suggested we make a batch of beer – his treat. With an offer like that who could refuse? Brian went on to say we could make any beer in the warehouse we wanted – as long as the can was dented (and thus not suitable for sale). Strolling through the warehouse, we stumbled into a can of Framboise extract and the adventure began. more...
